Three Life-Changing Milestones in One Extraordinary Year

Some years quietly come and go.

Others change your life forever.

For Ava Jean's parents, one year brought three of life's biggest milestones.

They celebrated their wedding.

They bought their first home.

And just as they were settling into married life, they received the news that would change everything once again. They were expecting their first baby.

In their own words, they joked that they had completed the "adulting trifecta."

Marriage.

A home.

A baby.

It's hard to imagine a more exciting year.

When I read their questionnaire before their newborn session, I couldn't help but smile. Their story was one of new beginnings, unexpected adventures and embracing every milestone together.

EWhen Life Doesn't Follow the Timeline You Expected

Like many new parents, Ava's arrival didn't quite go to plan.

Originally due in January, she decided she was ready to meet Mum and Dad a little earlier, arriving in December at 36 weeks and one day.

Her early arrival also meant a short journey through newborn jaundice treatment with Queensland Children's Hospital's Hospital in the Home program.

For many families, those first few weeks are a whirlwind of emotions. There is excitement, exhaustion, learning, healing and sometimes unexpected challenges.

That's why preserving this season becomes so important.

Because it's not about remembering perfection.

It's about remembering your story.

A Calm Beginning to a New Chapter

From the beginning, Ava's parents described the type of photographs they hoped for.

Natural.

Minimalist.

Calm.

Soft pinks, sage greens and gentle neutral tones created a timeless gallery that felt elegant without distracting from what mattered most.

Beautiful little Ava.

Every tiny detail.

Every peaceful expression.

Every quiet cuddle with Mum and Dad.

For the Camera-Shy Parents

One part of their questionnaire stood out to me more than anything else.

They admitted they were both a little camera shy.

It's something I hear from so many parents.

"We're awkward in photos."

"We don't know what to do."

"We're doing this for the baby."

The truth is, almost every family says something similar before their session.

And almost every family leaves saying exactly the same thing.

"That was so much easier than we expected."

My goal isn't to create stiff, perfectly posed portraits.

It's to gently guide you, allowing genuine moments to unfold naturally so your photographs feel authentic, relaxed and full of connection.

EnMore Than Baby Photos

While Ava was undoubtedly the star of the session, these photographs tell a much bigger story.

They capture the beginning of a family.

The excitement of becoming Mum and Dad.

The pride in holding their little girl for the very first time.

The home they've built together.

The life they're creating.

One day, Ava will look back at these photographs and see more than herself.

She'll see where her family's story began.

Turning a House Into a Home

When completing their questionnaire, Ava's parents shared they hoped to display their photographs as framed wall art throughout their home.

I absolutely love this.

After all, photographs aren't meant to live hidden away on a hard drive.

They're meant to become part of your everyday life.

Displayed in hallways.

Hung above the couch.

Shared with grandparents.

Passed down to future generations.

A home filled with family photographs becomes more than just a house.

It becomes a place filled with memories.

Thank You, Ava Jean

It was such a privilege to meet beautiful Ava Jean and document this unforgettable chapter for her family.

Thank you for trusting me during such an exciting season of your lives.

Your story is a wonderful reminder that sometimes life's biggest moments don't happen one at a time.

Sometimes they arrive all together.

And while it may feel overwhelming in the moment, those are often the years we treasure most.
