Welcoming Baby Benson
There’s something truly magical about welcoming a couple into the studio for their very first newborn session as parents. When Ron and Anna arrived with their beautiful baby boy, Benson, it was clear from the very first glance that their hearts had been captured completely. Benson, with his perfect little features and peaceful expressions, was just 13 days fresh into the world — and already surrounded by the deepest love.
Personalising Their Newborn Session
Before every newborn shoot, I take the time to get to know my families and hear about what matters most to them. For Ron and Anna, this session was all about capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments they could never get back — the kind you only get in those first precious weeks.
They loved the idea of keeping the colours neutral, with earthy tones and a pop of sage green for depth and warmth. They also came in with some wonderfully fun ideas — a mix of classic, timeless portraits and personality-filled setups, including a Peaky Blinders-inspired outfit, a teddy bear snuggle, and even a mini ‘workday’ scene with a laptop, glasses, and a Starbucks cup.
Family Portraits Filled with Love
We began with family portraits, and I can honestly say some of my favourite moments from the day came from watching Ron and Anna with Benson in their arms. The way they looked at him — with so much pride, awe, and tenderness — reminded me exactly why I do what I do.
There’s a special beauty in capturing parents in these early days. The tired eyes mixed with glowing smiles. The way a father instinctively cradles his newborn close, or the way a mother pauses to breathe in the sweet scent of her baby’s hair. These moments aren’t posed; they’re real, raw, and overflowing with love.
Why Book a Springfield Lakes Newborn Photographer
As a Springfield Lakes newborn photographer, I often meet families who tell me they almost skipped booking a session because life felt too overwhelming with a newborn. But time moves so quickly, and before you know it, those curled-up poses and tiny newborn stretches give way to rolling, crawling, and toddling.
Ron and Anna’s session was a perfect example of why it’s worth pausing, even in the chaos, to create these images. One day, Benson will be able to look back and see just how adored he was from the very beginning.
A Keepsake for Generations
From the soft, neutral tones to the personalised setups that made their session uniquely theirs, Benson’s gallery is one that will be treasured for a lifetime. I can already imagine these portraits finding a permanent home on their walls, telling his story to everyone who visits, and being passed down through generations.
